Channels
Channels is a charity dedicated to enhancing social mobility in the East Midlands via access to higher education and the professions. We deliver a blended schools outreach activities to schools in need, specifically tailored for the unique challenges posed by the region, that raises pupils aspirations and equips them to arrive and thrive in elite universities and competitive professions. Examples of our outreach activities include career panels with professionals across a range of sectors, E-Mentoring, and access to our E-Learning platform for school pupils – The Channels Academy.
We work with leading employers and elite universities to inspire students, opening their eyes to the world of opportunity that exists outside of the East Midlands. We aim to stop pupils limiting themselves to their local university and labour market, instead encouraging them to look further afield and back themselves to go that distance.

Employers play a key role in #socialmobility outcomes for many.

However, with each part of the UK having an individual identity, history and economy, impacting its local population and their opportunities, the challenges to social mobility, and the solutions, may differ from region to region.
That’s where we think the use of our new #Data Explorer tool can help – join us at this event on 7 June at 12pm for employers to find out how you can utilise our new tool to understand your workforce distribution; provide insight for outreach activity and hiring activity; and to serve and support regional communities.
