Christ’s Hospital Foundation

Christ’s Hospital Foundation

We are the UK’s leading charitable school and the country’s most generous educational bursary charity. Our mission is to challenge inequality and improve social mobility by providing a nurturing, transformative education. Through first-class teaching and learning and exceptional pastoral care, we provide each student with stability and the opportunity to thrive and fulfil their potential. The results are encouraging with 98% of students going on to university, alumni earning three times the household income of their parents and many taking roles in society which help to shape tomorrow’s world. Since our foundation, over 65,000 young people and their families have been supported.

We work with employers on a range of careers and employability programmes including networking events, careers talks, interview practice, work placements/apprenticeships and our Learning for Life programme for 6th Form students. These initiatives provide an opportunity to engage directly with high potential students from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds, widen talent pools, support CSR aims and give employees the opportunity to use their skills and experience to impact the lives of young people.

Company sponsorship of students while at the school provides a further opportunity to support increased social mobility for young people from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds and engage employees in CSR activity through mentoring, work experience and updates on the students’ progress.

Our work promoting social mobility has been recognised recently as a finalist for the 2022 UK Social Mobility Awards.

Employers play a key role in #socialmobility outcomes for many.

They determine where they set up their business, the types of job roles they create, and how and who they recruit; the income set by employers impacts living standards, pension contributions, as well as spending power in their local economy; they also play an important role in the health and wellbeing of employees.

However, with each part of the UK having an individual identity, history and economy, impacting its local population and their opportunities, the challenges to social mobility, and the solutions, may differ from region to region.

That’s where we think the use of our new #Data Explorer tool can help – join us at this event on 7 June at 12pm for employers to find out how you can utilise our new tool to understand your workforce distribution; provide insight for outreach activity and hiring activity; and to serve and support regional communities.
